Dog friendly cottages on Mull
If you are looking for dog friendly cottages on the Isle of Mull, look no further. We welcome well behaved dogs and their owners!
Two per cottage (one small one in the Shepherd’s Hut) is usually maximum, but please contact us if you want to come and stay with more than 2, as we would like to be able to help.

Walking your dog here:
Treshnish has wonderful walks – down to the shore below Shian and Duill and along the coast to the Whisky Cave are just two of them. For more info on walks at Treshnish have a look at this blog.
We ask that dogs are walked on leads at Treshnish. This is for good reason. Your dog may not chase sheep but our sheep don’t know that and will scatter at the sight of a dog running loose. This can cause the ewes to abort their lambs, and can cause mis-mothering of mothers and lambs.
Along the coast ewes bolt at the sight of dog running loose and unfortunately can end up going over the cliff edge. This happens quite often along the raised beach, and can be fatal for the sheep.
And close by, Calgary Beach is a lovely place to walk with or without your dog. In summer there can be other dogs around, but in the winter we often have the beach to ourselves.

Ground nesting birds:
Treshnish is a nature friendly farm, and we work hard to enhance and protect habitats to encourage wildlife. A so-called empty field might look like a haven for letting your dog run off the lead, but there are ground nesting birds between April and the end of August/September. So we ask dog walkers not to let their dogs off leads during these months.
Hares:
We have a tiny but much valued population of Hares on the farm, and would ask that you only let your dog off the lead if they have 100% good recall.

Scottish Outdoor Access Code
If you live in England or Wales and are coming to stay with your pet in Scotland, it is definitely worth looking at the Outdoor Access Scotland website. This will help you fully understand the responsibilities of walking your dog in the countryside and specifically on farmland.
