Dog walking on Mull
This is the first of several blogs I plan to write which will hopefully guide you into exploring different places to go dog walking on Mull.
Today on our way back from Tobermory we saw a car we recognised parked by the wildlife hide at Loch Tor. We knew there was an adorable 4 month old puppy there. We just couldn’t resist stopping to join them. And in all the years we have lived at Treshnish we have never walked at Loch Tor!
Off the lead
Our friends often walk their dogs here as there is no livestock to worry about. Their dogs are safe off the lead. Huge swathes of the forest have been cut down now. There are lovely views across the Loch to Highland cattle grazing on the hill beyond.
Wildlife as you walk
You never know what wildlife you will spot on the water. When our daughter was still at school, she texted me excitedly from the school bus to say she had seen an Osprey lifting up from the Loch with something in its talons. We were not so lucky today but there were unidentified ducks on the Loch. Plus we’d seen 5 Whooper swans on Loch Peallach.
Because of Daisy’s puppy legs we didn’t walk very far, however it was a lovely walk and the views are beautiful across the Loch. Lots of promise for future longer walks onto Glengorm and up to Mingary.
Loch Tor is a couple of miles north of Dervaig on the road to Tobermory. Park beside the wildlife hide and have your picnic lunch on a well placed bench! Let us know what wildlife you see
