Ferry travel to get to Mull
Using ferry travel to get to Mull is the only way to get here! But luckily we have 3 different ferry routes so if one is disrupted, we have other options.

Please don’t be dismayed and think you can’t holiday on Mull when you hear about the issues regarding the ferries. There are options!
Stories about ferry disruptions
I worry about the negative press that Calmac (Caledonian MacBrayne, the ferry operator) is getting at the moment and that it might be putting visitors off coming to Mull on holiday.
We are lucky on Mull that we have more than one ferry route.
The Mull Facebook pages are full of woes regarding cancelled ferries with many comments coming from people who might holiday here but don’t experience island life on a daily basis. And therefore might not be giving an accurate reflection on the issues and their workarounds.

So please contact us if you have any queries or worries about the ferries, and how to lessen the impact of any disruptions.
Use the Lochaline ferry if the Oban ferry is disrupted
Even the Calmac website doesn’t make it clear that if the Oban Craignure route might be fully booked, or even cancelled – or under threat of disruption – that you can actually get here via Lochaline instead! And it is a wonderful drive.
Christmas guests comment
Just a few days ago, guests from Germany had their return ferry to Oban cancelled. They were rebooked on a later ferry that day. But they decided to go via Lochaline so they could arrive at their destination earlier. At our suggestion they waited to change their Oban ticket to a Lochaline one until they knew they had a place on the Lochaline ferry. The staff member they spoke to was really helpful and arranged a ticket change and refund via his phone. Very easy!

Our guests loved their wintery drive across Morvern and through Glen Coe. They had not been this route before. We told them of the ‘feral goat detour’ via Kingairloch, which they found ‘very beautiful and impressive’.
