Everyone at Treshnish & Haunn Cottages would like to wish our guests – past, present and future – a Happy New Year and all the best for 2015!
Animals still need feeding whatever time of year so Farmer was up and out as per usual, feeding and checking the stock. New Years Day was fairly dull, and wet, and in the evening Daughter went to the early part of the annual Derviag New Year’s Dance at the Dervaig Village Hall. As our friends were still here we stayed at home, but the dance sounds as if it was a great success.
The farmhouse Hogmanay was an at home one. Last year we went to Tobermory and enjoyed the fireworks by the Clock tower along with most of Tobermory. Santa had kindly given me a tiny bottle of champagne which we shared as the bells rang out. It was a great and friendly celebration! This year, we had visitors so stayed at home, but relied on Jools Holland to keep the time right, for the bells and the pipe band playing Auld Lang Syne. For me there is always a tinge of sadness as the bells ring, thinking of those who are no longer with us.
The cottages have all been full for New Year, so it has been lovely to see their cosy lights on during these long dark evenings! One guest couldn’t quite believe we were full as Treshnish felt so quiet.. which was great to hear. On New Year’s night last night, the winds got up and around midnight I went out to look at the moon, the clouds were flying past at high speed and the branches waving furiously in the gale force winds. It was very exhilarating and certainly made me feel alive!
Bookings are beginning to come in now, as we all start to think of a new year, and new holidays. Please do have a look at our availability chart here on the website if you think you would like to come and stay, and get in touch by email or phone if you have any queries about staying here.
