Happy New Year
It’s Hogmanay and we’d like to wish you a very Happy New Year.
2023 has been a busy year. Lots of familiar faces coming to stay in the cottages and lots of new faces visiting Treshnish for the first time. It has been lovely sharing the farm with you all. Thank you so much for choosing Treshnish as your holiday accommodation.
May 2023 saw the opening of the Shepherd’s Hut, which was lovely. It was exciting getting it all ready and we were really pleased with how it turned out. It has been wonderful to have received lots of positive feedback. Guests have enjoyed its lovely situation and cooking pizzas in the outdoor oven whilst heating the water for the outdoor bath.
We’ve been very lucky to have had Leen and Arran working with us for the last 2 and a half years. They stopped work in November and have moved on to their own croft nearby. We will miss them but wish them all the best with their crofting enterprises!
We are to be joined in March by Laura and Troy who we are excited to introduce to you all. Initially they will live off farm but we are planning to build a staff house and when it’s ready they will be able to move onto the farm with their family.
What will be new in 2024?
We have a continual program of maintenance and improvement for the cottages. Shian and Duill have had a professional repaint with more to come in other cottages in the New Year.
Our existing staff house, the Old Schoolhouse, is due some attention. The red tin roof needs replacing so we are going to use this opportunity to add some Solar PV at the same time, and possibly even a battery system.
