Last minute booking is possible sometimes at Treshnish, though early booking is usually advised. However from Saturday we have a space in Toechtamhor – Saturday 4th to 11th October. I cannot remember when this cottage was last available in early October! In the pre-electricity days I think (and we put electricity in at Haunn in time for the 2006 season). That was also the time when Leena and Prasad came to live here, and it is amazing to realise that the wildlife recording on Treshnish now spans over 8 years. They do say time flies when you are having fun, and it is true!
If you are looking to do a last minute booking for this coming weekend, please do get in touch.
This afternoon we walked the dogs along into the Black Park and down along the sea. I never tire of those views. The sea was flat calm and it was so quiet down by the shore, just sitting watching the sea kelp swirl around the rocks in the low tide. A solitary gannet flew past and otherwise it was just us, the dogs and the view. Perfect!
Farmer has been busy this last week getting lambs off to market and preparing more lambs to be sold off the farm. This is the first time we have sold lambs to another island farmer, but it is good for everyone, particularly the lambs as they dont have the stress of the market to go through.
Tomorrow we have our bi-annual Visit Scotland inspection. I had to go and see the guests in Shian and Duill to warn that the inspector would need to see inside. On my way back to the house I was treated to a huge number of starlings settling in to roost on the electricity pole near the Studio. A wonderful sight. More starlings than we have ever seen here. The numbers have been growing over the last few years!
So, if you have some time to spare and want to share the views with the starlings, and can make a last minute booking, please get in touch. We have made a special offer of £400 for Toechtamhor from Saturday 4th to 11th October for 2 people. We have a couple of other vacancies later in October too!
