It is no longer midwinter on Mull, the days are getting longer (which makes our smiles wider). Just over a month has passed since the shortest day and tonight there was still light in the sky after 5pm, as a crescent moon was rising. Every year it suddenly seems to be lighter, as if overnight and what a difference it makes.
Rainbows over fields near Calgary on our way past this morning.
The snow of last week was all but gone except from the mountain tops. There was an almost straight line of ice from one side to the other of the Mishnish lochs, the smoothness of the icy surface, grey and opaque with the choppiness of the little waves on the water where it was no longer frozen.
In the midwinter on Mull Tobermory can be quite quiet but today it was busy, there was a table top sale on in the Aros Hall, and the bay was flat calm, fishing boats tied up for the weekend, but the ferries were disrupted again. Signs that people are gearing up for the coming season, a few shops with alterations going on, changes afoot!
