Last winter I caught quite a few Mull auroras – they are not as dramatic as those further north by any means, but they were still pretty exciting for me. Aurora activity goes on all year round but in the middle of the summer when the skies are not fully dark, we cannot see them. Now it is mid August, the sky is dark enough.
Last night was my first sighting of the season. It was magical to be standing outside, when everyone else was asleep, listening to the slight breeze in the trees around the house, looking out at a starry starry sky with a clear sparkling Milky Way above me, and to see that faint green glow above the clouds.
It was not the strongest of Mull auroras, but the camera picked up the colours.
