The month of March is here, as are the Mull March hares – at Treshnish and in our garden – they are coming regularly into the garden again and so I spend too much time stalking them through the double glazing and taking many too many grainy fuzzy photographs of them, but I cannot resist. The sight of them gives me a lot of joy. Today I did manage to sneak round the corner of the house and take some without the double glazed window ‘filter’ – but I was further away from them. For a few minutes they seem to tolerate my presence but then they bolt, straight back under the gate.
So please excuse the grainyness, please excuse the focus and the lack of definition… hopefully as the month of March improves so will my photographs of them.
Here at Treshnish on Mull March hares are brown with white fur on their legs and backends. At our low altitude they dont go completely white, but I should imagine the hares you might see on Ben More will have more of a white coat than the mad March Mull hares here.
