What a beautiful night. 27th/28th February 2014. People all over the country have been enjoying a strong Aurora Borealis.

We are well placed at Treshnish to look out for the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights. The Treshnish Cottages have the easiest access to a north view over the sea. It is important to remember that the camera captured more colour than the eye sees.
Strong solar activity has been forecast before this winter, and tonight it was a wonderful experience. Visible with the naked eye, with wonderful reds and oranges as well as the greens reaching up into the skies. Watching the ‘curtains’ of light dance along the horizon and the shafts of light flicker so high.
