The Treshnish Shepherd’s Hut
At the edge of a field, with views to the sea beyond, sits our new venture – the Treshnish Shepherd’s Hut. It is located across the field from the big farm building, tucked behind the old stone wall – well placed to catch the best sunsets all year round.
The Treshnish Shepherd’s Hut offers a chance to live more simply for a while, to slow down and relax in beautiful surroundings. Take time to cook amazing local produce outside, using the Weltevree outdoor oven, enjoy the quiet and the wonderful views. Or when the weather forces you indoors, you will be comfy and cosy with the tiny wood stove lit.
Open from mid September for ‘introductory’ stays
The Hut will be finished inside by mid September, but still needs landscaping outside. Guests this autumn should expect their surroundings to be earth and rock rather than grass and wild flower.
During September and October 2022 we are offering short breaks from Thursday to Sunday or Sunday to Thursday for £250. A week is £400. There is a £20 charge per dog per stay.
What to expect this autumn:
Access: Access to the Treshnish Shepherd’s Hut is on foot only. Guests park behind the Treshnish Farm steading, and walk about 350 metres. There is a wheelbarrow for transporting your luggage. At the door, 4 wooden steps with a hand rail up into the hut.
Inside: The Hut is compact, 20′ x 8′, but well designed to make the most of the space.
Small double bed, small built in bench with cushion seat, wood burning stove, well equipped kitchen area with 2 ceramic hobs, under counter fridge – and an ensuite shower-room. We provide tea towels, oven gloves, eco cleaning products.
Outside: a small unfinished garden area fenced to keep the sheep out with an outdoor wood burning pizza oven and grill; table and chairs. We have sown a wild flower grass mix but the area will look muddy until the grass starts growing.
Autumn prices include: Bedlinen and towels, initial basket of logs for the stove/pizza oven; electricity.
Connectivity: There is 4G 02, Vodafone and EE coverage at the hut but no Wi-Fi. If you need to connect to the outside world we have internet access at the farm you can use.
Dogs: Small well behaved dogs are welcome but please be aware there will be sheep grazing close to the Shepherd’s Hut so dogs will have to be kept under control at all times.
Fully open in April 2023
Over the winter we will finish landscaping around the hut. Full price bookings will start at the beginning of April.
Short stays from Thursday to Sunday, 3 nights: £390 or Sunday to Thursday, 4 nights: £390. Thursday to Thursday or Sunday to Sunday, 7 nights: £750. Arrival time 4pm, departure 10am.
